CARAFAP is an Autism Waiver agency and DDA provider in the state of Maryland. We provide in-home, community-based, and group-based services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are currently serving in 13 jurisdictions within the state of MD.
Staff's primary role is to provide the appropriate supports tailored to the needs and desires of each individual to enable each to live as independently as possible. The DSP provider is expected to recognize when an individual is in a crisis and be able to utilize the appropriate services when required.
Requirements:
1. At least 1 year or 100 hours of experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities
2. Clean state and federal background check
Responsibilities:
Provide intensive individual supportive and respite care services to clients in home and/or in the community
Encourage and promote client's independence and autonomy skills to provide behavior management strategies and skills
Ability to handle challenging and difficult clients and situations (some may have extreme aggression)
Ability to engage the client in some structured based activities
In a timely manner, complete all required documents supporting type of services provided to the client (including time and attendance, daily logs, progress and monthly notes, treatment plans, crisis plans, etc.)
Provide least intrusive methods of intervention
Provide community integration opportunities by encouraging use of public resources and recreational facilities
Maintain consumer confidentiality
Provides supervision to the client while respite services are being performed
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
