Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Asphalt Paving Operator to join our civil infrastructure team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating paving equipment to lay asphalt surfaces efficiently and safely, ensuring high-quality results on various construction projects. Your expertise in heavy equipment operation, asphalt materials, and adherence to safety protocols will be essential in delivering durable roadways, parking lots, and other paved surfaces. Duties
- Operate paving equipment such as screeds, pavers, and concrete pumps to lay asphalt and concrete surfaces according to project specifications.
- Maintain and perform routine inspections on construction machinery, including loaders, excavators, dump trucks, and concrete mixers, ensuring optimal performance.
- Follow safety regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards to maintain a safe work environment at all times.
- Assist with the maintenance of equipment and tools used in paving operations, troubleshooting mechanical issues as needed.
- Coordinate with team members to ensure smooth workflow during paving operations and adhere to project timelines.
- Conduct basic math calculations for measurements, material quantities, and leveling to ensure precise application of materials.
Skills
- Proven experience operating heavy construction machinery such as pavers, excavators, loaders, and dump trucks in civil infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of asphalt paving techniques, bituminous materials, concrete finishing, and concrete forming processes.
- Mechanical knowledge related to equipment maintenance and troubleshooting of paving machinery and trucks.
- Familiarity with safety regulations including OSHA standards and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations for construction sites.
- Ability to handle commercial vehicles such as trucks and mixers confidently following commercial driving protocols.
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations related to paving thicknesses, material estimates, and leveling accuracy.
- Experience working on large-scale construction projects within civil infrastructure roles emphasizing safety protocol adherence.
