Either way: you're comfortable walking into a place you've never been and starting a conversation, you care about people in your community having tools that actually work for them, and you want your first real work experience to mean something — not just fill a line on a resume.
Even better if you've worked in a salon or barbershop, or grew up around someone who did. You understand the culture, and how frustrating it is to watch a stylist's hard-earned reputation disappear the moment they change shops.

ABOUT BYNAME
ByName is a startup building individual reputation profiles for service professionals — hair stylists, barbers, and others. Think of it like Uber ratings, but for your career: every professional gets their own verified star rating that travels with them wherever they work.
A client scans a QR code — at the station, on a business card, or from a link the stylist texts after an appointment — leaves a rating in under 60 seconds, and that review lives on the stylist's own profile permanently, no matter where they work next.
We're launching in Atlanta's salon and barbershop community in August 2026. We're very early-stage, which means the person who joins now will have an outsized impact on how this gets built. You won't be executing someone else's playbook. You'll be helping write it.
THE ROLE
Your job is to build ByName's presence in Atlanta's salon and barbershop community — one relationship at a time. This isn't a traditional sales role. You're not asking anyone to buy anything. You're introducing a free tool and inviting people to be part of something being built right here in Atlanta.
In the early weeks, that means walking into salons, meeting stylists, and helping them get set up on the spot. As the community grows, it means staying in touch to make sure they're actually getting value.
This role requires reliable personal transportation — you'll be visiting salons across Atlanta, and mileage is reimbursed. Work when it makes sense for you: evenings, weekends, whenever stylists are available and your schedule allows. No required days or hours — just results.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Introducing ByName to stylists and salon owners
- Visit salons and barbershops across Atlanta to introduce ByName and build relationships
- Walk stylists through setting up their profile on the spot — photo, bio, specialties, and QR code
- Help stylists understand how to share their profile link after appointments — that's where most ratings actually come from
- Sign up salon owners as formal partners where possible
- Represent the brand with warmth, honesty, and genuine enthusiasm
Keeping stylists engaged after signup
- Circle back 2–3 weeks after signup: How many ratings? Are clients scanning? Has anyone found them through ByName yet?
- Help re-engage stylists who haven't been active
- Flag stylists who seem discouraged early — the first 30 days are critical
Keeping us informed
- Log every visit, signup, and check-in in the shared ByName Stylist Tracker
- Send a short weekly update on signups, check-ins, and what you're hearing on the ground
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Currently enrolled in an Atlanta-area university or an Atlanta-area cosmetology/barber program, or recently graduated/licensed
- Has reliable personal transportation — this role requires mobility across Atlanta neighborhoods
- Naturally outgoing and comfortable starting conversations with people you've never met
- Excited by the idea of helping build something from scratch
- Reliable and self-directed
- Organized enough to log visits and send a weekly update consistently
Strongly preferred: personal connection to Atlanta's salon or barbershop community — a regular stylist or barber, a family member in the industry, prior work experience in beauty, or genuine familiarity with the culture.
Also a plus: interest or coursework in marketing, business development, entrepreneurship, or community organizing.
COMPENSATION & CLASSIFICATION
Base pay: $18/hour (estimated 10–15 hours/week)
Signup bonus: $15 for each stylist who completes a profile — paid monthly
Retention bonus: $10 for each stylist who has 10+ verified ratings at their 30-day check-in
Mileage: reimbursed for salon visits and travel across Atlanta
Examples (based on 15 hrs/week at $18/hr base):
- 10 signups/month → +$150 → ~$19/hr all-in
- 20 signups/month → +$300 → ~$20/hr all-in
- 30 signups/month → +$450 → ~$21/hr all-in
No cap. Top performers have a realistic path to $22–25/hour all-in.
This is a 1099 independent contractor role, not employment.

HOURS & COMMITMENT
Start date: August 1, 2026, with commitment through at least December 2026. Roughly 10–15 hours per week, on your own schedule. No required days, no required shifts.
