VP Commercial Insights and Planning
Reports to: EVP & General Manager, Brands
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Head of Commercial Insights and Planning serves as the commercial intelligence and planning leader for BrightPet's Branded, PL and Export business and as a thought-leader for the Co-Man business. This role is responsible for translating business strategy into actionable growth plans through category insights, customer analytics, market intelligence, and integrated business planning.
Reporting directly to the EVP & General Manager, this leader serves as a key business partner across Sales, Marketing, eCommerce, Operations, Finance, and Customer Service. The role leads the commercial planning process, provides the business assumptions and insights that support forecasting and S&OP, and helps ensure BrightPet is making fact-based decisions that drive profitable growth and retail partner success.
This is a highly visible role with broad influence across the organization and a direct impact on revenue growth, customer performance and business results.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Insights & Planning
- Monitor category, customer, channel, consumer and competitive trends to identify risks, opportunities and performance drivers across the BrightPet portfolio.
- Develop business cases, scenarios and recommendations to support customer opportunities, portfolio initiatives, pricing decisions and channel expansion.
- Lead market research and analytics initiatives to uncover emerging trends, whitespace opportunities and evolving customer and consumer needs.
- Develop retailer/customer-specific selling stories, category recommendations and growth opportunities to strengthen retail performance.
- Analyze assortment, pricing, promotion, distribution, velocity, and omnichannel performance to identify opportunities for profitable growth.
- Partner with Sales, Marketing, eCommerce, Export, Finance, and Operations to ensure plans are informed by fact-based insights and aligned to business objectives.
- Partner with the EVP & GM and Finance to support annual operating plans, monthly business reviews, and long-range planning processes.
Integrated Ops Planning & S&OP Leadership
- Provides BrightPet oversight of the S&OP Process, working cross-functionally with step leaders and executive team to ensure smooth operating rhythm and cohesiveness
- Lead the commercial side of the S&OP / Integrated Business Planning process.
- Consolidate commercial assumptions, promotional plans, customer initiatives and market intelligence that support forecasting, inventory planning and supply planning.
- Partner with Demand Planning, Operations, Finance, Sales, Marketing, eCommerce, and Export teams to ensure organizational alignment.
- Facilitate cross-functional decision making and alignment around business priorities.
Business Intelligence & Analytics
- Develop and manage dashboards, KPI reporting, and business performance scorecards (with data/it)
- Deliver actionable insights that improve decision making, business performance, resource allocation.
- Partner with eCommerce Sales and Media teams to incorporate digital commerce, search, media, and performance insights into broader commercial planning and strategy.
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability, customer performance, and portfolio effectiveness through analytics.
- Create visibility into key drivers of growth, risk, and performance across channels and markets.
Sales Enablement
- Equip Sales teams with insights, analytics, and tools that improve customer planning and execution.
- Support customer business reviews, line reviews, retailer presentations with insights to establish best practices
- Partner closely with Sales to support retail partner success and strengthen customer relationships.
- Develop reporting and scorecards that improve visibility to customer performance and execution
- Revenue Enablement & Insight Adoption
WHAT YOU BRING
- 12+ years in integrated, demand, or commercial planning within CPG or branded consumer goods.
· Solid understanding of pet industry and pet channel expertise
- Strong partnership with Sales and experience supporting retail partner success
- Inventory, supply chain, 3PL, and export planning experience
- Experience leading S&OP / IBP processes
- Analytical, structured, and influential leadership style
