Position Summary:
The School Psychologist provides comprehensive psychological services to support SEED LA scholars’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth. This role includes assessment, counseling, consultation, and collaboration with teachers, families, and external service providers to ensure equitable access to education and well-being for all students. The School Psychologist also serves as a key member of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and Special Education teams, ensuring compliance with IEP processes and best practices in intervention.
Key Responsibilities:

Conduct psychoeducational assessments and re-evaluations for students referred for special education services in alignment with IDEA and California Department of Education requirements.
- Prepare comprehensive, accessible evaluation reports for students, families, and school teams.
- Participate in IEP meetings to interpret evaluation results and support the development of goals and services.
- Provide individual and group counseling for students with IEP Designated Instructional Services (DIS) goals.

Offer social-emotional and behavioral support for students in the general education population.
- Serve as a member of the Crisis Response Team, assisting with prevention and intervention efforts during critical incidents.
- Partner with the Director of Student Support Services, school administrators, teachers, and families to design interventions that address academic, behavioral, and emotional challenges.
- Support staff through consultation and training on child development, classroom management, and behavior intervention strategies.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of tiered intervention systems that promote positive mental health and behavior.
- Collect and analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and inform schoolwide decisions.
- Submit all required reports, assessments, and documentation in a timely and compliant manner.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, professional development, and campus events as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission of SEED LA.

Work is performed across school and residential environments, including offices, counseling spaces, classrooms, and dormitory settings.

Frequent interaction with students in grades 9–12, including those experiencing social-emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges.

Regular collaboration with faculty, administrators, residential life staff, families, and external service providers in a multidisciplinary setting.

Exposure to emotionally sensitive situations, including crisis intervention and mandated reporting responsibilities, requiring professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.

Exposure to moderate to high noise levels and active school environments, including residential components.

May encounter stressful situations requiring timely and appropriate response in accordance with school policies and student safety protocols.

The schedule generally follows the school calendar; additional flexibility may be required for crisis response, family engagement, or after-hours support in a boarding environment.

May include participation in school events, field trips, or community-based services.

Typical shifts are from 8:00 am – 4:30pm (evening shifts may be required to support residential students)

Certifications and Degrees:
Required:

Master’s degree or higher in School Psychology or related field.

Valid California Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential in School Psychology. • Minimum of three years of experience as a School Psychologist.

Knowledge of California special education law and IEP compliance requirements. • Demonstrated ability to provide effective counseling, assessment, and consultation services.

Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Experience working in an urban or boarding school setting.

Experience with students with learning differences, ADHD, and trauma backgrounds.

Knowledge of evidence-based interventions and restorative practices. • Ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams and work flexible hours as part of a 24-hour school model.
