Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our team on a PRN basis in Brownsville. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to patient care, with experience across various healthcare settings. As a CNA, you will play a vital role in supporting patients’ needs through direct care activities, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being while adhering to all safety and confidentiality standards.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care by assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
- Monitor and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature.
- Support patients with medication administration under supervision and ensure proper documentation of all care activities.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations and safeguard sensitive medical information.
- Assist with patient transfers using appropriate methods such as Hoyer lifts or other transfer equipment to ensure safety.
- Observe and report any changes in patient condition or behavior to the supervising healthcare team promptly.
- Follow infection control protocols and aseptic techniques to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
- Document all patient interactions thoroughly using electronic health record (EHR) systems or medical documentation tools.
Experience
- Prior experience working as a Certified Nursing Assistant or in similar caregiving roles within long-term care facilities, hospitals, or home health environments.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, vital signs monitoring, and basic life support (CPR) certification preferred.
- Experience working with geriatric patients, individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia or Alzheimer’s care is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients of diverse backgrounds and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience working in acute care settings such as ICU or trauma centers is advantageous but not required.
