Responsibilities
Support auto body technicians by preparing vehicles and work areas for repairs, including disassembly and cleaning. Assist with the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment (such as MIG welding), and airless paint spraying to perform basic repairs and refinishing tasks. Handle heavy lifting and moving of vehicle parts, sheet metal, and other materials safely and efficiently. Contribute to vehicle maintenance tasks like auto glass replacement, auto painting, sanding, detailing, and assembly. Help with fabrication and sheet metal work to shape or repair damaged panels using soldering, welding, and other metalworking techniques. Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring all tools are properly stored and safety protocols are followed. Support auto body repair processes by assisting with auto estimating tasks and documenting work progress for quality control.
Skills
Previous dealership or auto body shop experience is highly preferred. Proficiency with MIG welding, soldering, fabrication, and the use of various hand tools and power tools. Strong mechanical knowledge related to automotive repair, vehicle maintenance, auto restoration, and auto painting techniques. Experience working with sheet metal, auto glass installation, airless paint spraying, and auto body detailing. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with team members and clients. Knowledge of automotive repair procedures including auto estimating is a plus.
