Product Data Analyst
Job Summary
The Product Data Analyst builds and maintains manufacturing Bills of Materials that reflect how ECS products are purchased, fabricated, assembled, and routed through production. The role sits between Engineering and Operations, translating engineering output in SolidWorks PDM into Smartsheet product structures that drive accurate purchasing, clean work orders, and efficient shop execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, update, and maintain manufacturing BOMs and product structures in Smartsheet, the system of record for production BOM data.
- Maintain part data and metadata in SolidWorks PDM — part numbers, descriptions, materials, and revision states — and keep PDM and Smartsheet reconciled.
- Validate BOMs against engineering drawings, PDM data, and specifications — part numbers, descriptions, quantities, and materials — before release to production.
- Process Engineering Change Orders and implement BOM revisions on schedule, using PDM where-used to identify every affected assembly and job.
- Structure BOMs by purchased, fabricated, and assembled content to support scheduling, work order simplicity, and shop flow.
- Standardize product structures across similar equipment to increase reuse and manufacturing consistency.
- Enforce ECS part numbering, naming, and revision conventions across PDM and Smartsheet.
- Own BOM data integrity: audit released BOMs on a set cadence, resolve PDM-to-Smartsheet discrepancies, drive root cause on recurring errors, and maintain documentation for reporting.
- Serve as the single point of contact for BOM questions across Engineering, Purchasing, Production, and Supply Chain.
- Support lean and continuous improvement initiatives through BOM and routing optimization.
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field — or equivalent hands-on manufacturing experience.
- 2–4 years in BOM management, production planning, or manufacturing operations.
- Hands-on experience in SolidWorks PDM — checking files in and out, updating data cards and metadata, managing revision states, and running where-used queries.
- Advanced Smartsheet and Excel skills — formulas, cross-sheet references, and structured data management.
- Comfortable maintaining data discipline across two systems that do not talk to each other; prior ERP experience is helpful but not required.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
Required Skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy under deadline.
- Analytical and root-cause problem solving.
- Clear, direct communication across Engineering, Purchasing, and Production.
- Working knowledge of BOM structures, change management, and inventory concepts.
- Self-directed process discipline — able to hold a standard across systems without automation forcing compliance.
Key Performance Indicators
- BOM accuracy at release (errors per BOM).
- ECO implementation cycle time.
- BOM-driven production errors and rework.
- On-time BOM completion against engineering release dates.
- PDM-to-Smartsheet discrepancies found per audit cycle (trending down).

Application Question(s):
