Wild Pacific Whale Watch is looking for an enthusiastic Marine Naturalist to educate and inspire guests aboard one of Southern California's premier whale watching experiences.
This position is perfect for someone who loves marine life, enjoys public speaking, and wants to share the incredible wildlife found just off the San Diego coast. Every trip is different—from blue whales and humpbacks to playful dolphin superpods—and you'll help bring those encounters to life.
Responsibilities
- Narrate whale watching tours for groups ranging from 20–140+ guests
- Identify whales, dolphins, seabirds, and other marine wildlife
- Share engaging facts about marine biology, ecology, conservation, and local history
- Answer guest questions throughout the trip
- Work closely with captains and crew to enhance the guest experience
- Assist with wildlife spotting and documenting sightings
- Help create an exciting, educational, and memorable experience for every guest
- Occasionally assist with educational or social media content
Qualifications
- Strong public speaking and storytelling abilities
- Outgoing, energetic, and personable
- Passion for marine mammals and ocean conservation
- Comfortable speaking over a microphone to large groups
- Ability to adapt presentations based on wildlife sightings
- Reliable and punctual
Preferred Experience
- Marine biology, environmental science, zoology, ecology, or education background
- Experience leading tours, teaching, interpreting, or public speaking
- Whale watching, boating, or ecotourism experience is a plus—but we're willing to train the right person with the right personality and enthusiasm.
Schedule
- Primarily Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays
- Additional weekday opportunities during peak seasons
