Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Medication Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in patient care within senior living, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care settings, with expertise in medication administration and resident support. As a Certified Medication Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring safe medication delivery, supporting residents’ daily needs, and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. Duties
- Administer prescribed medications accurately and safely to residents or patients following established protocols and physician orders.
- Monitor residents’ vital signs and observe for any adverse reactions or changes in condition, reporting findings promptly to nursing staff.
- Assist residents with personal care activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support while respecting their dignity and privacy.
- Maintain detailed medical documentation and medication records using electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Support residents with specialized needs including Alzheimer's, dementia, memory care, and hospice care by providing compassionate assistance tailored to individual requirements.
- Follow all HIPAA guidelines and maintain strict confidentiality of resident information at all times.
- Participate in ongoing training on medication administration, safety procedures, and state healthcare regulations to uphold professional standards.
- Collaborate effectively with nursing staff, caregivers, and family members to deliver comprehensive resident-centered care.
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Medication Technician recognized by the State Board of Nursing or relevant licensing authority.
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home & community care environments.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and medication management practices.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Epic or Cerner is preferred.
- Experience working with geriatric patients and individuals with disabilities including developmental disabilities or Alzheimer’s disease.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks and heavy lifting safely while maintaining resident comfort and safety.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification demonstrating readiness for emergency response situations.
- Strong communication skills combined with caregiving expertise to foster positive interactions with residents and team members.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
