Job Summary
We are seeking an HVAC designer with approximately 2-5 years of consulting engineering experience. This role is ideal for a hands-on designer who currently assists a lead engineer(s) with developing mechanical permit drawings.
Project Summary
The HVAC Designer will be responsible for developing mechanical system designs on a variety of commercial and institutional projects. This will involve coordinating with clients, architects, and internal disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform HVAC Calculations
- Select and schedule HVAC equipment
- Prepare construction documents using AutoCAD and Revit
- Perform field surveys to determine HVAC existing conditions
- Prepare construction drawings, specifications, and calculations
- Coordinate with electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and architectural teams
- Support construction administration activities
- Participate in client coordination meetings and technical discussions
- Ensure designs meet applicable codes and standards (NC Building Codes, ASHRAE, etc.)
- Support long-term growth of the mechanical department
Qualifications Required:
- EIT preferred, but other candidates will be considered based on experience
- 2–5 years of mechanical system design experience in a consulting engineering environment
- Experience designing commercial HVAC systems (VAV, VRF, RTU, chilled water, etc.)
- Working knowledge of Revit MEP and AutoCAD
- Strong communication and organization skills
