American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with Level I trauma experience for a 13-week day shift contract at an 820-bed academic Magnet-designated hospital in Charleston, SC.

Work in a Main OR with 21 suites at a Level I Trauma Center, academic teaching facility, and Magnet-designated hospital
-
Common cases include Ortho (total joints, spine, trauma), Neuro (craniotomy, spine), ENT (flaps), Robotics, Transplants/Procurements, Trauma/Burns, and GU/GYN
-
Travelers may be expected to staff the full variety of cases supported by the Main OR
-
Floating within scope to meet facility needs, including between like units or sister facilities, is required
-
Schedule is 3x12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM–7:30 PM, with rotating weekends and holiday rotation

Up to 4 on-call shifts per month (end of shift through 7:00 AM)

Charts using Epic

Radiation badge required for this position (must be provided by agency)

Minimum of 2 years of CST experience required

Level I trauma center experience required
-
NBSTSA certification required (NCCT credential is not accepted)

BLS certification required — AHA-issued certifications only

SC license required if applicable

Driver's license required for consideration

SSN required for consideration

Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Experience with Neuro (spine/craniotomy), ENT (flaps), and Robotics (Da Vinci Xi) cases is highly preferred
-
First-time travelers are accepted for this position

Previous permanent or PRN staff at any MUSC location must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler

The OR team consists of approximately 75% RNs and 25% CSTs; RNs are trained to both scrub and circulate

Scrubs are provided by the facility

Online modules are completed prior to the start of the assignment

All requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed at the time of consideration; approval is based on facility needs
-
Candidates living within 60 miles of the facility are considered local; non-local candidates are prioritized, though local candidates may be considered on a case-by-case basis
-
Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season (June–November), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response duties; peak activity months are August and September
