Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers on over-the-road (OTR) routes, ensuring compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
- Drive a variety of freight including refrigerated goods, hazardous materials, flatbed loads, and tanker shipments using manual or automatic transmissions.
- Navigate routes efficiently using GPS systems and plan deliveries to meet tight schedules while maintaining safety standards.
- Load and unload cargo with proper manual handling techniques, ensuring secure placement of freight such as logistics cargo, dangerous goods, or specialty items like automobile transportation units.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections and routine maintenance checks to guarantee vehicle safety and compliance before each trip.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, shipment documentation, and compliance records in accordance with hazardous materials regulations and company policies.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route updates, delivery statuses, or any issues encountered during transit.
Qualifications
- Valid CDL-A license with a minimum of two years of over-the-road (OTR) driving experience.
- Proven expertise in commercial truck driving with knowledge of FMCSA and DOT regulations.
- Experience handling refrigerated trailers, hazardous materials (Hazmat), flatbeds, tankers, or specialized freight is highly preferred.
- Skilled in GPS navigation systems for route planning and real-time adjustments.
- Ability to operate manual transmission trucks safely and efficiently.
- Strong understanding of truck loading/unloading procedures and logistics cargo handling.
- Excellent driving record demonstrating safe driving habits and adherence to DOT safety standards.
