Altec Aluminum Technologies is an ISO-9001 certified company located in Jeffersonville Indiana. We are dedicated to producing high quality custom aluminum extrusions of all shapes and sizes.
As Production Controller, your primary responsibility is to manage and support the production scheduling and production work orders at the Altec Aluminum extrusion facility. This role helps to ensure the production teams are organized and set up for a successful extrusion shift. The ideal candidate has a background in manufacturing, familiarity with production ERP systems, attention to detail, and strong communication/interpersonal skills.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Spend 50% of the time on the plant floor engaged with the production teams
- Takes ownership of the production schedule. Communicates with the production teams to ensure they are organized and prepared to meet customer needs
- Manages all production work orders, ensuring they are printed, accurate, and on schedule
- Reviews completed orders and finds the root cause of any production overage to determine if there are problems to resolve
- Adjusts work order parameters as needed to support efficiency improvement
- Reviews work orders with the die shop team to foresee production delays and acts as a decision maker to overcome setbacks
- Works closely with the shipping team to ensure on-time delivery to the customer
- Manages stock inventory and ensures it is replenished to designated inventory levels
- Maintains oversight on overage inventory and applies it to open orders
- Communicates with the customer service team to review production delays or customer expedite requests
- Reviews inventory for obsolescence and oversees scrap procedures
- Maintains an understanding of the order backlog and updates production lead times
- Demonstrates leadership by helping other team members succeed and seeks to improve productivity of overall operation
- Communicates with Production and Management daily
- Helps to create and maintain process and procedure documentation
- Actively seeks to understand and improve knowledge of the aluminum extrusion process
- Is a champion for company culture by promoting the company’s policy and values.
- Actively participates in continuous improvement initiatives
Required Qualifications:
- 2+ years of manufacturing process experience or similar
- Excellent communication skill
- Experience with basic data entry with well-versed computer skills
- Ability to be hands-on and self-directed
- Comfortable working in a fast pace manufacturing environment
- Bonus: manufacturing safety or environmental experience — opportunity to support site safety/environmental projects and expand responsibilities
