WORK SCHEDULE
Adelbrook is a 24/7 operating Agency. Schedules are flexible and may include early mornings,
evenings, overnights, weekdays, weekends, holidays, mandated overtime, mandated holds, and
on-call responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform carpentry projects, including repairs, construction, installation, and maintenance
of doors, windows, furniture, cabinetry, and other wooden structures.
- Carry out landscaping duties such as mowing, planting, pruning, watering, trimming,
mulching, and seasonal care of agency grounds.
- Design and maintain outdoor spaces to ensure they are safe, functional, and visually
appealing.
- Operate and maintain carpentry tools, hand tools, power tools, and landscaping
equipment (e.g., riding mowers, trimmers, snow blowers).
- Conduct preventive maintenance and timely repairs of grounds features (fences,
walkways, decks, garden beds).
- Assist with seasonal responsibilities, including leaf removal and snow/ice removal.
- Safely store and handle tools, chemicals, and equipment in accordance with OSHA and
agency regulations.
- Demonstrate professionalism and positive role modeling when interacting with residents
and staff.
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond to after-hours facility needs when assigned.
- Maintain active certification in agency-approved crisis intervention training, including all
required levels of Physical and Psychological Management Training (PMT). Apply
training techniques appropriately to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals
served, staff, and others in the environment. Demonstrate competency in de-escalation
strategies, safe physical interventions, and adherence to agency protocols.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by leadership.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
SKILLS:
- Proficiency in carpentry techniques, woodworking, and the safe use of carpentry tools.
- Skilled in landscaping practices, groundskeeping, and equipment operation.
- Strong time management and organizational skills to manage multiple projects.
- Effective problem-solving and basic troubleshooting ability.
KNOWLEDGE:
- General knowledge of building construction, carpentry, and grounds maintenance.
- Safe operation and upkeep of hand tools, power tools, and landscaping equipment.
- OSHA safety standards and proper use of carpentry and landscaping materials.
- Seasonal landscaping techniques, soil care, and planting best practices.
ABILITIES:
- Ability to work independently while following instructions and project plans.
- Ability to communicate clearly with supervisors, coworkers, and residents.
- Ability to adapt to changing work priorities and respond appropriately in emergencies.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in carpentry, landscaping, or related trades.
- Must be able to complete and maintain required certifications (e.g., CPR/First Aid, PMT,
DDS Medication Certification).
- A valid driver’s license and clean driving record are required. May be required to drive
company vehicles.
- Ability to work flexible schedules and meet on-call responsibilities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Work is performed in school, group home, and residential settings, both indoors and
outdoors.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, operate carpentry and landscaping tools, and assist
with physical interventions as needed.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and use hand tools for extended periods.
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions and behaviors that may require de-escalation or
intervention.
- Maintain active certification in agency-approved crisis intervention training (PMT).
- Exposure to behaviors that may require de-escalation or intervention.
