Our capabilities are constantly expanding and currently include metal stamping, laser cutting, brake forming, tubular stamped components, CNC and Swiss machined parts, wire forms, thread rolling, weldments, and integrated assemblies. Our modern facility includes a complete in-house tool and die department and fastener distributorship.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
1st shift: Monday through Friday 7am-3pm
JOB SUMMARY:
As a Tool Designer, you will support Wisconsin Stamping & Manufacturing by designing, diagnosing and troubleshooting stamping dies, machine fixtures and tooling. Using your mechanical knowledge, you will troubleshoot machines to eliminate part defects and maximize production yield.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILIES:
- Design of transfer and progressive stamping dies.
- Design machine fixtures and tooling.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot dies, fixtures and tooling.
- Prepare layouts and designs from data and specifications.
- Detail complicated drawings, such as fixture and assembly drawings.
- Adopt and incorporate quality methods into their work.
- Ability to work independently.
- Positive and Strong work ethic.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Visual acuity and design techniques to produce basic 3D layouts by assembling existing components or assemblies to verify clearances.
- CAD experience required; Solidworks and Logopress desired.
- Ability to calculate dimensions and specify allowances and tolerances in accordance with standard practices.
- Ability to complete required tolerance studies of complexity consistent with level of design work assigned.
- Proficient in math with an understanding of geometric tolerance (GD&T).
- Electronic die sensor knowledge.
- Working knowledge of the physical properties and relative costs of materials.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing processes (stamping, machining, & etc.) and assembly processes.
- Flexible and responsive with a strong teamwork orientation.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Desire to learn new skills and improve technical knowledge.
- Strong orientation toward quality, safety and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work well in a fast paced environment to meet team expectations.
- Ability to plan effectively for the timely completion of scheduled work.
- Commitment to quality and accuracy of work performed.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively implement or respond to change.

REQUIRED SKILLS / ABILITIES:
- Knowledge and understanding of all tool room related equipment and methods (training offered).
- High competence in dimensional measuring and the use of precision measurement tools.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and other shop drawing aids.
- Ability to work with various types of materials.
- Flexible and responsive with a strong teamwork orientation.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Desire to learn new skills and improve technical knowledge.
- Strong orientation toward quality, safety and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work well in a fast paced environment to meet team expectations.
- Commitment to quality and accuracy of work performed.
THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCE IS A PLUS BUT NOT REQUIRED:
- Three to five years tool room experience.
- CNC programming experience.
- One or more years of CNC machine operating experience.

This is a full time position in the competitive and challenging metal manufacturing field. The pay range/rate of pay for this position may vary depending on a number of factors including, but not limited to, the position offered, location, education, training and/or experience.
