- Minimum of 2 years experience in a culinary or food service role, preferably in a retail or grocery store environment
- Culinary degree and/or food safety certification (ServeSafe or equivalent) preferred
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, food safety, and sanitation practices
- Ability to manage multi-tasks and lead a small team in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- Creative, detail-oriented, customer service focused
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and work in hot or refrigerated environments
- Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs and perform tasks involving bending, reaching, and repetitive motions
The Prepared Foods Chef is responsible for creating, preparing and overseeing fresh, high-quality prepared foods and meals for customers. This role ensures all food is prepared in compliance with health and safety standards and reflects the store's commitment to quality and customer service. The Chef also plays a key role in training staff, managing kitchen operations, and contributing to the store's merchandising and promotional efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and oversee the production of fresh, ready-to-eat meals, soups, salads, sides, and grab-and-go items
- Develop recipes and seasonal menus in alignment with customer preferences and food trends
- Monitor product freshness and rotate offerings based on shelf life and demand
- Train and supervise kitchen associates in proper food handling and preparation techniques
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all kitchen and prep areas in accordance with food safety regulations
- Track inventory, assist in ordering, reduce waste by utilizing ingredients efficiently
- Collaborate with department managers to support store-wide promotions and events
- Ensure consistent portion control and quality standards in all prepared items
- Provide outstanding customer service by answering food-related questions and offering suggestions
- Direct conformity with applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Attend appropriate training and meetings as required.
