Duties
- Perform comprehensive physical examinations and patient assessments to determine health status and identify care needs.
- Administer medications, injections, IV infusions, and treatments such as botulinum toxin therapy with precision and adherence to safety protocols.
- Manage complex medical procedures including catheterizations, suturing, dialysis access, ventilator management, and tube feeding.
- Document all patient interactions accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems like Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks to ensure seamless communication across care teams.
- Provide acute pain management, triage services, and emergency interventions in fast-paced environments such as emergency rooms or Level I trauma centers.
- Educate patients and their families on health conditions, medication regimens, and post-discharge care plans including discharge planning and hospice & palliative medicine.
- Collaborate with physicians and specialists in specialties like cardiology, ophthalmology, infectious disease care, geriatrics, pediatrics, behavioral health, and occupational health to deliver comprehensive care.
Qualifications
- Valid RN license with current registration in the state of practice.
- Proven experience in diverse clinical settings such as hospital medicine, ICU/CCU (Critical Care Units), PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit), or long-term care facilities.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, laboratory procedures, and infection control protocols.
- Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner or Athenahealth for accurate medical documentation.
- Skilled in performing invasive procedures such as phlebotomy, venipuncture, sterile processing techniques, ostomy care, and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays while demonstrating compassion in geriatrics or dementia care environments.
- Critical care experience preferred—especially ICU or Level II/Level I trauma center experience—and familiarity with trauma medicine and acute care protocols.
- Excellent patient assessment skills combined with the ability to handle high-pressure situations like emergency room or urgent care settings confidently.
