Human Resources Clerk (Part-Time, 12-Month)

Employment Status: Part-Time, 12-Month
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. (20 hours per week)
Position Summary
Rowlett Academy K-8 is seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and customer-focused Human Resources Clerk to support the daily operations of the Human Resources Department. This position plays an important role in facilitating volunteer and chaperone clearance, maintaining personnel records, assisting with employee onboarding and offboarding, processing employment documentation, and providing excellent customer service to applicants, staff, and volunteers. The ideal candidate is professional, trustworthy, highly organized, and able to manage confidential information with discretion while supporting a positive workplace culture.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to the Human Resources Department.
- Assist with new hire onboarding, including preparing employment paperwork and orientation materials.
- Assist with background screenings and fingerprint processing.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee personnel files in both paper and electronic formats.
- Process employment documents, including contracts, personnel changes, and separation paperwork.
- Assist with recruiting activities, including posting vacancies, scheduling interviews, and communicating with applicants.
- Conduct reference checks and assist with employment verification requests.
- Monitor and maintain employee certifications, licenses, and required compliance documentation.
- Prepare HR correspondence, reports, spreadsheets, and forms.
- Maintain HR databases and ensure accurate employee records.
- Respond to routine employee questions regarding policies, procedures, and benefits, referring complex issues to the Director of Human Resources.
- Assist with maintaining compliance with federal, state, and school policies related to employment.
- Order and maintain HR office supplies and materials.
- Provide courteous assistance to employees, applicants, and visitors.
- Act as support for office team as needed and act as substitute for Crossing Guard (7:15a-8:15a) as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources, Principal or Head of Schools.
QualificationsEducation and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree or coursework in Human Resources or Business Administration helpful
- Minimum of one (1) year of administrative office experience required.
- Previous Human Resources or school district experience preferred.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods while performing computer work or stand while filing or assisting front office.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to bend, reach, and file documents.
- Frequent use of computers, telephones, and standard office equipment.

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
