Group Leader – Injection Molding to support and oversee
daily production operations within our plastic injection molding department. This
role is responsible for coordinating manpower, leading process startups, and
providing first-line troubleshooting to ensure safe, efficient production and
consistent product quality. The Group Leader works closely with Production
Supervisors, Process Technicians, Maintenance, and operators to maintain
workflow, minimize downtime, and uphold process standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate floor operator assignments to ensure proper manpower coverage
across injection molding work cells
- Support machine startups and execute machine restarts to ensure processes meet
standard cycle times and quality expectations
- Provide first-level troubleshooting for process interruptions, including machines,
materials, tooling, and automation
- Monitor production performance and communicate downtime, quality concerns,
and process issues
- Supports floor operators to follow standardized work instructions and process
control documents
- Restart and support automation systems including robots, conveyors, and pickers
- Assist with mold changeovers, preventive maintenance, and proper machine
shutdown/startup procedures
- Oversee material flow, ensuring machines are properly supplied and scrap is
handled per guidelines
- Maintain housekeeping (6S), safety compliance, and organized work areas
Qualifications
- Experience in injection molding operations, manufacturing leadership, or process
support preferred.
- Good troubleshooting skills related to molding processes, equipment, and
automation
- Ability to read and follow process documentation (work instructions, setup
parameters, quality alerts)
- Leadership skills with the ability to train, guide, and communicate effectively
with team members
- Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced production environment

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Maintain clear and effective communication with
Production Supervisors, Process Technicians, and
fellow Group Leaders regarding production status,
quality concerns, and process performance.
- Assign and manage operator staffing across IMM auto
work cells to ensure adequate coverage for production
demands, startups, and downtime recovery.
- Provide hands-on leadership, guidance to floor
operators to ensure proper execution of standardized
work.
- Train and support floor operators in accordance with
established process control documents and quality
requirements.
- Monitor floor operator performance and report
progress, skill gaps, and concerns to the Supervisor.
- Ensure all team members follow safety, quality, and
housekeeping (6S) standards.
INJECTION MOLDING PROCESS CONTROL &
TROUBLESHOOTING
- Supports IMM process startups and Executes IMM
restarts, ensuring machines are brought online efficiently
and meet standard cycle times and quality expectations.
- Provide first-level troubleshooting for IMM process
interruptions, including identifying issues related to
machine performance, tooling, materials, or automation.
- Escalate complex issues to immediate Supervisor
Process Technicians, Maintenance, or Engineering as
needed while maintaining production flow.
- Monitor machine cycle times and verify performance
against standard targets at least once per shift.
- Ensure adherence to all process control documents
(WI, VAB, MFG/QA Alerts, Development documents,
Process Parameters, etc.).
IMM MAINTENANCE SUPPORT
- Support compliance with Preventive Maintenance (PM)
schedules and asset management directives.
- Execute proper machine shutdown procedures per the
purging matrix and operational standards.
AUTOMATION SUPPORT
- Restart and monitor automation systems including
robots, conveyors, and pickers during production
interruptions.
- Ensure automation systems are functioning properly to
support efficient cycle times and product handling.
MATERIAL HANDLING
- Oversee material flow to ensure machines are properly
supplied with raw materials and dryers/hoppers are
functioning efficiently.
- Coordinate with the Material Handling staff to ensure
timely delivery of required materials.
- Identify, segregate, and properly label recyclable scrap in accordance with the Regeneration Matrix.
- Ensure proper disposal of waste materials and
maintain clean, organized work areas in compliance with
6S standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to
process efficiency, downtime reduction, and quality.
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
- Qualification Requirements: Complete the JFA-8021
REQUIREMENTS
- Any combination of education is equivalent to a high school education.
- Capable of communicating with co-workers, exemplifying a positive attitude,
and great cooperation.
- Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to perform job to acceptable standards.
- Ability to understand processes involved in manufacturing.
- Minimum 1 year experience in plastic manufacturing environment.
- Must acquire a Tow Motor License.
- Ability to audit operators on quality and performance.
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
