Join Our Team
Meineke Car Care Center in McKinney is looking for an experienced Lead Automotive Technician / Master Technicianto join our growing team.
We are looking for more than someone who can replace parts. We need an experienced technician who can diagnose difficult problems, perform high-quality repairs, lead by example, and help other technicians grow.
Our goal is simple: properly diagnose vehicles, educate customers honestly, perform quality repairs, and fix vehicles right the first time.
What You'll Do
- Diagnose check-engine lights, electrical problems, drivability concerns, noises, leaks, overheating, A/C issues, and other complex vehicle problems.
- Perform advanced mechanical and electrical repairs.
- Complete accurate Digital Vehicle Inspections with photos, videos, measurements, and clear technician notes.
- Handle brakes, steering and suspension, cooling systems, A/C, engine repairs, electrical systems, maintenance, and general automotive repair.
- Verify diagnoses before recommending parts or repairs.
- Perform test drives and quality-control checks.
- Assist other technicians with difficult diagnostic and repair situations.
- Help train and mentor developing technicians.
- Communicate findings clearly to service advisors.
- Maintain accurate documentation of the customer concern, cause, and correction.
- Maintain a clean, organized, professional, and safe work area.
- Help keep work moving efficiently through the shop.
- Take pride in completing repairs correctly the first time.
What We're Looking For
Our ideal candidate has:
- Strong automotive diagnostic ability.
- Advanced electrical and drivability diagnostic skills.
- Experience with modern scan tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Strong mechanical repair experience.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and service information.
- Ability to accurately identify the root cause of a vehicle problem instead of guessing or simply replacing parts.
- Strong understanding of brakes, steering, suspension, cooling, A/C, engine performance, and electrical systems.
- Ability to work independently while also supporting the rest of the team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Professional attitude and good communication skills.
- Valid driver's license.
- Own professional automotive tools.
ASE certifications are strongly preferred. Master ASE certification is a major plus.
What Makes This a Lead Position
We're looking for someone the rest of the shop can rely on.
The right technician will be comfortable taking on challenging diagnostic work, helping technicians when they get stuck, checking repair quality, and setting the standard for how work should be performed.
You should be the person who asks:
“What actually failed, and how do we prove it?”
—not simply, “What part should we replace?”
Our Shop Philosophy
We believe customers deserve to understand what is happening with their vehicles.
That means:
Inspect it. Diagnose it. Document it. Explain it. Fix it right.
We do not believe in recommending unnecessary repairs or using pressure tactics. Our technicians provide accurate information, and our service advisors educate customers so they can make informed decisions.
What We Offer
- Full-time position
- Busy, growing automotive repair shop
- Opportunity for strong earning potential based on experience and productivity
- Modern digital inspection and shop-management systems
- Access to automotive service information and diagnostic resources
- Opportunities for continued technical training
- Leadership opportunity within the shop
- Professional team environment
- Opportunity to mentor and develop other technicians
- Meineke's nationwide brand recognition
The Technician We Want
You may be a great fit if you're the technician other mechanics already come to when they can't figure something out.
You take pride in your diagnostics.
You don't guess.
You don't cut corners.
You document what you find.
You care about fixing the customer's vehicle correctly.
And you're willing to help the technicians around you become better.
If that sounds like you, we'd like to talk.
