Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated In Home Caregiver to provide essential support to individuals in their homes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in care, particularly in stroke patients and possess the skills necessary to assist clients with daily living activities while ensuring their safety and comfort. This role is crucial for enhancing the quality of life for our clients and requires a commitment to providing personalized care.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a positive environment.
- Monitor client health and report any changes or concerns to immediate supervisors.
- Administer medications as prescribed and ensure compliance with care plans.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment for clients by performing light housekeeping duties.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote mental and physical well-being.
- Ability to transfer client using a Hoyer lift.
- Vital signs monitoring (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiration)
- Basic first aid and CPR (if needed)
- Bed bathing and grooming (including shaving and oral hygiene)
- Assisting with toileting (incontinence care and changing of depends)
- Changing bed linens with client in bed
- Skin care and pressure sore prevention (repositioning, using cushions, inspecting skin)
- Feeding assistance
- Care documentation and progress notes
- Meal and fluid intake monitoring
- Medication and symptom tracking
Skills
- Strong background in care, particularly in geriatrics or outpatient settings.
- Knowledge of emergency medicine practices is beneficial for responding to urgent situations.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and supervisors/managers.
- Ability to demonstrate empathy and patience while providing care in a home setting.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently while ensuring client satisfaction.
Optional (But Beneficial) Certifications:
- First Aid/CPR certification
- Home Care Aide (HCA) certification
- Dementia or stroke care training
