General Job Description
The candidate will be assigned to the maintenance team. This position is primarily responsible for the installation, troubleshooting and repair of mechanical and electrical systems in support of production operations and general facilities. Additional project related work may also be required. All work is performed under the established safety policies and procedures set by Steward.
This work requires the employee to use basic hand tools, electrical measuring devices and other special tools to perform installation, troubleshooting and repairs on motors, controls, heating, cooling, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems as required to sustain production operations and associated facilities. Additional responsibilities include periodic instrument calibrations, layout and fabrication of mechanical and electrical panels, and repairs such as motor, valve and cylinder replacement. Equipment types include Mills, Mixers, Blenders and Dryers, Electric Fired Kilns, Ovens and Rotary Calciners.
Duties include:
1. Responsible for performing all work in a safe and conscientious manner.
2. Safely operate forklift and mobile elevated work platform (MEWP) equipment.
3. Capable of working in a team dynamic, supervised or unsupervised.
4. Possess good communication skills both verbal and written.
5. Follow established procedures and policies.
6. Maintain a clean work environment.
7. Proficient use of hand tools for assembly and repairs of mechanical equipment such as nuts, bolts, bearings, bushings, rollers, and intricate assemblies.
8. Capable of basic gas and arc welding practices.
9. Capable of safely working with High Voltage circuits (480Vac)
10. Troubleshoot, diagnose and implement repairs to A/C & DC circuits on a daily basis.
11. Troubleshoot and diagnose integrated controls such as PLC’s and Motor Drive circuits.
12. Assist in the layout and fabrication of control circuits and control panels.
13. Properly size & install electrical conduit.
14. Respond to equipment breakdowns in timely manner.
15. Use basic hand tools for general mechanical repairs such as motor and valve replacement.
16. Read and follow printed Calibration task worksheets.
17. Ability to issue purchase requisitions including equipment part number and cost.
18. Provide personal tools.
19. Perform other work as assigned.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3 yrs. experience in a production type environment.
- Basic familiarization of electrical codes and electrical safe work practices.
- Experience following Lockout/Tagout procedures.
- Basic understanding of calibration and metrology practices.
- Knowledge of NEMA class and frame type.
- Ability to read and interpret basic wiring diagrams.
- Familiarization of forklift and scissor lift operation.
- PC experience with familiarization of Windows operating systems and Microsoft software.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis
- Ability to climb up and down ladders on a daily basis
- Ability to hear alarms and sound of operating machinery
- Ability to work at heights above ground level
- Other duties as assigned.
This position will be required to work a 12 hour rotating night shift. 6pm to 630 am. This shift has every other weekend off and built in overtime.

Pay: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour
