Salary Range:
- NEW! $1,000/mo stipend* Paid in $500 increments over two pay periods/month
- $39/base pay + additional compensation for years of service
- Shift Differentials

Job Description
Under the direction of the CNO (Department Director) delivers quality nursing care to patients, newborn to geriatric, on an assigned unit. Assures that patient/family needs are met. Provides for open communication within the unit, with patients, families, physicians, other units and departments. Demonstrates knowledge of patient/staff safety measures. Builds and maintains positive professional relationships.
Core Responsibilities
· Carries out patient care according to hospital policies and procedures functioning within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act.
· Implements and documents patient care. Documents patient care appropriately and completely.
· Established treatment priorities based on the medical and nursing diagnosis.
· Recognizes patient problems and complications and intervenes appropriately.
· Administers medications safely and documents completely.
· Participates in the development and adherence to written nursing standards of care.
· Maintains skills required to work with patients.
· Demonstrates the ability to perform and assist in specialized procedures.
· Assesses patient and family physical and psychosocial needs. Supports both in a positive manner.
· Is involved in discharge planning and patient teaching.
Additional Responsibilities
· May be required to undertake Charge Nurse responsibilities.
· Identifies need for patient/family teaching.
Knowledge and Skills
· Strong communication skills and ability to explain medical issues in both layman’s and medical terms.
· Ability to remain calm in stressful situations including medical emergencies and communicating with patients and their families.
Working Conditions
· Well-lit, ventilated, temperature-controlled environment. Possible hazards include a busy and stressful environment, long hours, and exposure to bio-hazardous waste, body fluids, chemicals, electrical devices, toxic waste, needles, and moving machinery.
Physical Demands
· Reaching, bending lifting more than 25lbs., grasping, fine motor skills, pushing and pulling. Standing and walking for extended periods of time.
Experience
· Two years relevant experience in critical care nursing preferred.
Education
· Must be currently licensed to practice as an R.N. in the State of Colorado.
