Direct Supports LLC is seeking caring, dependable, and responsible individuals throughout Virginia DBHDS Region 5 who are interested in becoming Sponsored Residential Providers.
This opportunity may be a great fit for DSPs, caregivers, CNAs, PCAs, residential staff, healthcare workers, experienced family caregivers, homeowners, or renters who have a suitable home and want to make a meaningful difference in someone’s life.
What Is Sponsored Residential?
As a Sponsored Residential Provider, an individual with a developmental disability would live in your approved home while you provide the day-to-day support they need based on their individual service plan.
This is not a traditional shift-based caregiver position and it is more than simply renting out a room.
Direct Supports LLC provides training, oversight, monitoring, and support while you provide a safe, stable, and welcoming home environment.
Compensation
Earn up to $5,000 per month per approved placement.
Compensation depends on the individual’s authorized level of support, specific needs, approved placement, and your Sponsor Agreement with Direct Supports LLC.
Placement and income are not guaranteed. Applicants must successfully complete the Sponsor approval, training, background-check, home-certification, and matching process before services begin.
Duties May Include
Depending on the individual’s specific needs, you may assist with:
- Providing a safe and comfortable private bedroom
- Providing appropriate supervision and day-to-day support
- Assisting with daily living activities as needed
- Meal preparation and grocery needs
- Medication routines as trained and authorized
- Scheduling and attending medical appointments
- Providing or coordinating transportation
- Supporting community outings, recreation, shopping, and social activities
- Helping the individual develop greater independence
- Supporting personal goals identified in their service plan
- Maintaining required documentation
- Communicating with Direct Supports LLC and the individual’s support team
- Maintaining a safe, respectful, and supportive home environment
Basic Qualifications
Applicants should:
- Have at least one available private bedroom
- Have a safe and suitable home or apartment
- Be willing to welcome an individual with a developmental disability into their household
- Have household members who are comfortable with the arrangement
- Be dependable, patient, responsible, and compassionate
- Have reliable transportation
- Have a valid driver’s license if providing transportation
- Be willing to complete required background and registry checks
- Be willing to complete required training and orientation
- Be willing to participate in home inspections and ongoing monitoring
- Be able to follow the individual’s service plan and Direct Supports LLC policies
Experience
Previous experience as a DSP, CNA, PCA, caregiver, residential counselor, behavioral health worker, group-home staff member, healthcare worker, or family caregiver is preferred but not required.
A CNA license is not required.
Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus, and required training will be provided or coordinated as applicable during the onboarding process.
How the Process Works

You will have an opportunity to learn about and meet a potential individual before agreeing to a placement.
The individual also participates in determining whether your home is the right fit.
