Electronics Assembly Technician (Hourly, Part-Time / Contract)

About Us
Sentala is a nonprofit building drone and IoT technology for wildlife conservation and anti-poaching efforts. Our hardware is deployed in the field where reliability matters. We're looking for a hands-on technician to help us build a small production run of ruggedized electronics systems.
The Role
We're assembling roughly 20 (to start...) units of a custom ground control station - a Pelican case integrated with a computer, custom radio components, 3D-printed parts, and sheet metal panels. You'll work from complete build documentation, CAD files, and assembly guides that we provide. We handle all sourcing and you handle assembly and testing.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assembling electronic components, wiring harnesses, and connectors into Pelican case enclosures
- Installing and fitting 3D-printed parts and sheet metal panels
- Performing functional testing of assembled units against provided test procedures
- Documenting build issues, part discrepancies, and test results
- Suggesting improvements to assembly workflow as you go
What We're Looking For
- Hands-on experience assembling electronics (professional, military, hobbyist, or maker background all welcome)
- Comfortable with hand tools, soldering, crimping, and cable management
- Able to follow detailed technical documentation and test procedures carefully
- Detail-oriented with a quality-first mindset — these units go into the field
- Bonus: experience with RF/radio hardware, embedded systems, or enclosure integration
