Position Summary
The Third Shift Fuel Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating and monitoring overnight fuel deliveries while ensuring safe, efficient, and timely service to customers. This position serves as the primary point of contact for drivers during the overnight shift, managing delivery schedules, responding to operational issues, communicating with customers when necessary, and maintaining accurate dispatch records.
The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, able to work independently, and capable of making sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Schedule
- Third Shift (Overnight)
- Typical hours: 09:00 PM – 5:00 AM (hours may vary)
- Rotating Weekend Shifts Required
- Holidays may be required based on business needs
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Dispatch and coordinate fuel delivery drivers to meet customer delivery requirements.
- Monitor driver progress using GPS, routing software, and communication systems.
- Prioritize emergency and time-sensitive fuel deliveries.
- Maintain continuous communication with drivers regarding routes, delivery status, weather conditions, and operational changes.
- Respond promptly to service issues, delays, breakdowns, and other unexpected situations.
- Update dispatch logs, delivery records, and transportation management systems accurately.
- Verify customer orders and delivery schedules.
- Coordinate with operations, maintenance, and management to ensure uninterrupted service.
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, company policies, and safety procedures.
- Prepare and distribute shift reports detailing deliveries, exceptions, and operational concerns.
- Assist with after-hours customer service inquiries and emergency requests.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous dispatch, transportation, logistics, fuel delivery, or customer service experience preferred.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and dispatch or transportation management software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and fuel transportation is preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements

Work Environment
This position is primarily office-based in a dispatch center and requires continuous communication with drivers, customers, and operations personnel. The work environment is fast-paced and requires the ability to respond quickly to changing priorities and emergency situations.
