Blue Sierra Realty is a boutique real estate brokerage and property management company that manages high-quality rental homes throughout the Reno area. We are a small, hands-on team looking for a reliable and skilled Maintenance Technician / Handyman to help maintain, repair, and improve our portfolio of residential properties.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, problem solving, and maintaining properties to a high standard. Ideal candidates have experience in residential maintenance, property maintenance, handyman services, or general contracting and are comfortable performing a wide variety of household repairs independently.
Position Overview
The Maintenance Technician / Handyman will perform general maintenance, repairs, property improvement work, and light exterior upkeep across residential properties managed by Blue Sierra Realty.
Our company operates during normal business hours of 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday, and it is expected that this employee be committed and available during those hours. Work in tenant-occupied homes must generally occur during those hours unless otherwise coordinated.
This role requires someone who is dependable, communicates well, and can work independently while maintaining professional standards.
ResponsibilitiesGeneral Maintenance & Repairs
- Perform general maintenance and repair work on residential properties
- Troubleshoot and repair common household issues
- Complete work orders assigned through the company property management system
- Maintain safe, clean work environments on all properties
- Assist with small-to-medium property improvement projects, remodel projects, and general property upgrades as needed
Property Setup & Installation
Assist with preparing homes for tenants or guests, including:
- Assembling furniture
- Hanging décor and wall fixtures
- Unboxing and installing household items
- Coordinating deliveries when needed
Property Inspections & Reporting
- Complete maintenance tasks identified during inspections
- Document completed work with photos
- Update inspection reports in company systems to reduce repeat visits
Landscaping & Exterior Work
- Perform light landscaping tasks when needed
- Assist with seasonal outdoor property care
- Support general yard maintenance, property cleanups, and exterior upkeep
- Assist with minor landscaping repairs, irrigation adjustments, and related exterior maintenance when needed
Property Support
- Property cleanups and trash-outs when needed
- Assist the team with operational needs and occasional errands
Work Expectations
- Work orders are managed through AppFolio and time tracking through Clockify
- Clear communication with management and team members is required
- Maintain a professional appearance while working at properties
- Represent the company professionally when interacting with tenants and vendors
QualificationsRequired Skills
- Previous handyman, maintenance, or property maintenance experience
- Strong reliability and communication
- Ability to troubleshoot common household repair issues
- Experience performing painting and routine/basic household repairs
- Comfortable using tools for general home repair and installation
- Ability to complete tasks independently and efficiently
- Reliable transportation
- Comfortable using mobile apps for work orders and communication
Additional Experience (Preferred)
- Irrigation repair or sprinkler system maintenance
- Basic landscaping or exterior property maintenance experience
- Experience assisting with residential remodel or improvement projects
Schedule & PayPay
$25 per hour
