The Fordy Group is partnering with a leading heavy civil and asphalt contractor to hire an experienced Project Manager for civil construction projects in Charlotte, NC. This is a high-impact opportunity to lead the successful execution of major infrastructure projects, working with a well-established contractor known for quality, safety, and long-term employee investment.
Role Overview:
The Project Manager will be responsible for the overall planning, coordination, execution, and financial performance of heavy civil construction projects. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to effectively manage project teams, clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all phases of large-scale heavy civil construction projects from preconstruction through closeout
- Oversee project budgets, schedules, contracts, and resource allocation to ensure successful project delivery
- Coordinate with superintendents, engineers, subcontractors, and clients to maintain productivity and project objectives
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement proactive solutions to keep projects on track
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and company policies
- Review and interpret plans, specifications, contracts, and construction documents
- Lead project meetings and maintain strong communication with internal and external stakeholders
- Manage project documentation, reporting, cost tracking, and forecasting
- Foster strong client relationships and support business development efforts when needed
Candidate Profile:
- Proven experience as a Project Manager on heavy civil construction projects
- Strong understanding of DOT standards, roadwork, grading, paving, utilities, and infrastructure construction
- Demonstrated success managing project budgets, schedules, and teams
- Ability to read and interpret civil plans, specifications, and contract documents
- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence throughout all phases of construction
