Job Title: Special Education Teacher
Core Responsibilities
IEP Development and Participation:
● Creates and implements Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) based on assessments.
● Participates in IEP meetings to present assessment results and progress reports.
● Maintains accurate and timely student data in school-approved software system (Welligent).
Instructional Delivery:
● Co-teaches with general education teachers sharing the responsibility of planning, instruction, and assessing students, as well as overall student success.
● Identifies, selects, and modifies instructional materials and curriculum to meet the diverse needs of students.
● Delivers quality, tailored, age-appropriate instruction addressing cognitive, sensorymotor, social-emotional, and language developmental areas.
● Uses program approved Positive Behavioral interventions and Support.
● Maintains a positive and safe learning environment that is inclusive and supportive of all students.
● Serves as a mandated reporter and follows policies and procedures for reporting student injuries and incidents.
Assessment & Monitoring:
● Regularly monitors and records student progress, adjusting goals and strategies to address individualized goals and objectives.
Collaboration:
● Communicates and partners with staff: speech-language therapist, occupational therapist, physical therapist and general education staff.
● Attends and participates in staff meetings.
●Collaborates with general education teachers to participate in Parent Conferences
Classroom Management:
● Establish a safe, nurturing, and structured learning environment, often utilizing positive behavior support strategies. Family Engagement and Support:
● Educate and involve families in the child’s learning process, often providing resources for home-based support.
Pay: $61,500.00 - $96,600.00 per year
