Certified Oncology Pharmacy Technician
Position Overview:
The Certified Pharmacy Technician is responsible for preparing and dispensing medications to patients within a hospital setting, including accurately filling prescriptions, managing medication inventory, processing insurance claims, maintaining patient records, and working closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and correct medication delivery; often requiring knowledge of sterile compounding techniques for intravenous medications.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:

Ordering of medications per schedule and demand, keeping mindful of 340B qualifications
- Responsible for outdates and rotation of stock

Receives and stores incoming deliveries of hazardous and non-hazardous medications and supplies.

Submits medications to EPIC for charging and creating ERx

Responsible for billing errors and corrections

Loading, maintaining and updating Omnicell medications

Maintain Pharmacy Services in a clean and orderly manner, including daily hood cleaning and deep cleaning of the hood rooms per regulation

Perform other pharmacy-related duties as requested or needed

Reports and spreadsheets recordkeeping for Quality Improvement projects.

Compounded Sterile Preparations:
-
Demonstrates knowledge and skill ensuring that pharmaceutical preparations are sterile, properly packaged, labeled, and stored, and not outdated.

Ensures compliance with USP <797>, USP <800>.

Physical Requirements:
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds for routine performance of essential functions.
- May be exposed to physical hazards (e.g., needle pricks, etc.) and chemical hazards.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, perform overhead lifting and perform other common physical movements as needed for the position.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required

One (1) year related pharmacy experience and/or training or graduate of certified training program/healthcare.

Must have experience with compounding IV medications for a minimum of 1 year on a regular basis.

Must have or be willing to obtain PTCB's Hazardous Drug Management Certificate or Certified Compounded Sterile Preparation Technician (CSPT) in a timely manner.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Must have an active and current Certified Pharmacy Technician certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or PTCB.

Must be registered as a technician and in good standing with the North Dakota Board of Pharmacy.
