Position: Part-Time Nanny & Family Assistant
Location: San Rafael, CA
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM + Occasional weekend date nights (1–2x per month)
Hours: Guaranteed 20 hours/week (~80 hours per month, plus extra for date nights)
Flexibility Needed: Occasional daytime shifts (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM) during parent work travel (notified a few weeks in advance).
Compensation: Competitive hourly rate (DOE)
About Our Family
We are a busy, warm family with a sweet 3-year-old and two friendly, low-maintenance small dogs (Cavapoos). Both parents work from home, so we are looking for a reliable, engaging, and proactive professional to partner with us during the busy late afternoon and evening hours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Toddler Care & Routine: Waking our 3-year-old from naptime, organizing engaging afternoon activities, cooking simple toddler-friendly meals, and managing the dinner routine.
- Light Household Help: Keeping the home tidy during down times—specifically tidying the kid’s bedroom/play areas and handling light kitchen cleanup (loading/unloading the dishwasher and clearing dinner prep).
- Dog Care: Our Cavapoos are incredibly low-maintenance. They just need someone comfortable letting them out into the backyard via the back door and occasionally tossing them their food if we are running late.
Schedule Flexibility & Extra Hours:
- Work Travel Coverage: Dad travels for work occasionally. During these times (typically 1 to 2 days at a time), we will need you to shift to a full daytime schedule, roughly 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. We will always provide a few weeks' notice for these schedule changes.
- Occasional Daycare Pickup: Daycare is just a 6-minute walk from our house. You won't normally need to handle pickup, but we need someone willing to walk over and grab our toddler if a parent is traveling.
- Date Nights & Housesitting: Opportunities for additional hours 1–2 times a month for Friday or Saturday date nights (typically 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM), as well as house/dog-sitting when the family travels out of town.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience with toddlers (ages 2–4).
- Trustworthy, proactive, and comfortable working in an environment where parents work from home.
- Genuinely comfortable with small dogs.
- Reliable transportation to San Rafael.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Pay: $22.00 - $34.00 per hour
