Overview:
The fleet tech works under the fleet coordinator on ambulance operations, including assisting with fleet planning, repairs, development and day to day fleet tasks. The fleet tech will assist the fleet coordinator in performing ambulance maintenance and compliance with State, Federal and Company requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Schedules and Fleet Maintenance
- Assists in troubleshooting problems with equipment and Fleet.
- Communicates with the Fleet Coordinator of vehicles status.
- Assist in any projects that the Fleet Coordinator works on that improve efficiency and/or reduces operating costs.
- Ensures vehicle compliance on a day-to-day basis with State, Federal and Company requirements. Ensures a safe environment exists and that all maintenance and related activities are in conjunction with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Works closely with Fleet Coordinator providing status of maintenance. May review incident reports with Fleet Coordinator.
- Assist in any reports for Fleet Coordinator to track vehicle maintenance, trends, etc.
Fuel and Maintenance
- Responsible for trouble-shooting repair and coordinating repairs with fleet coordinator.
- Performs routine vehicle maintenance such as replacement of brakes, oil changes, and minor repairs on the box of the ambulance.
Hazards: Employees can be exposed to dust, fumes, gases, fire, smoke, adverse weather conditions, and chemicals. There may also be exposure to body substances that may contain infectious materials that could cause illness or death if not mitigated correctly.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma required: vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred or the equivalent in work experience
- Basic Mechanical aptitude and 1-2 years of automotive or diesel repair experience preferred
- General Vehicle maintenance knowledge and experience
- Computer skills should include spreadsheet, word processing, and database proficiency
- ASE Certifications (strongly preferred). Must be able to obtain while employed.
- Current and Valid Nevada Driver's License and evidence of insurability.

Physical Requirements
Physical skills: Normally assigned to work in an office environment and garage/warehouse environment inside and outside. There may be some exposure to dust, dirt, noise or excessive sun.
Must be able to sit, stand, bend or walk for extended periods of time. Portions of the job will require employee to provide maintenance on vehicles which will require a significant amount of bending, kneeling and lifting. While performing the job the employee is frequently required to operate basic office equipment, fleet equipment and tools or controls.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move, with help, up to 100 pounds.
Visual Activity: Able to see and discriminate detail in written documents and messages from a computer screen. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Auditory Activity: Good skills to distinguish sounds in normal conversation levels.
Sensory Activity: Normal motor skills required, such as being able to type using a computer keyboard or the ability to drive an automobile.
Verbal Activity: Ability to communicate clearly with a variety of employees, patients, families, co-workers, and public groups.
Other: Occasionally required to travel. May require a valid State of Nevada Driver’s License and evidence of insurability.
Other: There is possible exposure to infectious disease and hazardous materials.
