Mission
The Program & Communications Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the mission of the Outer Banks Dementia Friendly Coalition by strengthening community engagement, promoting educational opportunities, supporting fundraising initiatives, and ensuring the smooth operation of Coalition programs and services.

Position Summary
The Program & Communications Coordinator provides administrative, communications, marketing, and event support to the Executive Director and the Outer Banks Dementia Friendly Coalition (OBXDFC). This position is responsible for coordinating organizational communications, maintaining the Coalition's digital presence, supporting fundraising and educational events, and assisting with the day-to-day operations of the Coalition. The Coordinator works closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, Coalition members, volunteers, sponsors, and community partners to advance the Coalition's mission.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAdministrative Support
- Provide administrative support to the Executive Director and Coalition operations.
- Prepare agendas, attend Coalition and Board meetings, record meeting minutes, and distribute meeting materials.
- Maintain organizational files, records, and contact lists.
- Respond to general inquiries and assist with daily operations.
Communications, Marketing & Public Relations
- Develop and manage content for the Coalition's website, email newsletters, and social media platforms.
- Create promotional materials including flyers, brochures, banners, event signage, and digital graphics.
- Write website content, press releases, event descriptions, sponsor recognition, and community announcements.
- Coordinate marketing campaigns to promote Coalition programs, educational events, fundraising initiatives, and community outreach.
- Maintain a consistent organizational brand across all print and digital communications.
- Monitor social media engagement and respond to inquiries as appropriate.
Website Management
- Maintain and regularly update the Coalition website.
- Create and edit event pages, registration information, and organizational news.
- Post sponsor recognition, event photos, and program updates.
- Ensure website content is accurate, current, and user-friendly.
Program & Event Coordination
- Assist in planning and coordinating educational programs, conferences, workshops, caregiver support activities, and community outreach events.
- Coordinate event registrations, attendee communications, presenters, lodging, vendors, and catering.
- Provide logistical support before, during, and after Coalition events.
- Assist with Caregiver's Day Out programs and other Coalition-sponsored activities.
- Support fundraising events through planning, communications, volunteer coordination, and administrative assistance.
Fundraising & Sponsorship Support
- Assist with sponsorship recruitment materials and sponsor communications.
- Coordinate sponsor recognition across social media, the website, printed materials, and event signage.
- Support fundraising campaigns through marketing, communications, and administrative coordination.
- Assist with promotional efforts for Coalition fundraising events, including the Love to Remember Racquet Sports Tournament and the Dementia Walk, by creating marketing materials, website updates, social media content, registration communications, and sponsor recognition.
- Maintain donor and sponsor records as assigned.
Community Relations
- Serve as a point of contact for Coalition members, volunteers, caregivers, sponsors, and community partners.
- Respond to inquiries regarding Coalition programs and services.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with community organizations and stakeholders.
- Represent the Coalition professionally at meetings, educational events, and community functions.
Qualifications
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Experience using Canva or similar graphic design software.
- Experience managing websites and social media platforms.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with staff, volunteers, and community partners.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with nonprofit organizations, community outreach, event planning, or communications.
- Familiarity with fundraising and sponsorship coordination.
- Experience with website content management systems.
- Knowledge of dementia-friendly initiatives or a willingness to learn about dementia care and caregiver support.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and transport event materials up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to travel locally for meetings and community events.
- Occasional evening or weekend hours required to support Coalition programs and fundraising events.
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Kill Devil Hills, NC 27948
