The Reductions Specialist is responsible for reviewing and negotiating outstanding medical balances, liens, and related claims following case settlements.
This role ensures that clients from a Personal Injury Law Firm receive the highest possible net recovery while maintaining compliance with firm policies, provider agreements, and applicable regulations.
BILLING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Key Responsibilities
● Handle incoming calls and follow-ups with clients, insurance adjusters, and medical providers during the settlement process
● Communicate with insurance adjusters to obtain payments
● Obtain reductions from medical providers, hospitals, and any other parties owed monies as a result of the client’s case
● Resolve lien interests and medical bills from providers
● Work with medical providers to deliver the maximum value to clients
● Organize and prepare closing documents for attorney and client review and signature
● Verify and organize medical bills and execute appropriate follow-up procedures
● Review all medical bills, liens, and insurance payments related to settled cases
● Maintain detailed communication records and supporting documentation for all negotiations
● Prepare final settlement sheets for attorney review and approval
● Collaborate with case managers, paralegals, and accounting to ensure timely disbursements
● Ensure accurate reflection of reductions in case management and accounting systems (e.g., Clio, QuickBooks)
● Maintain updated spreadsheets and case logs of outstanding reductions
● Track provider follow-ups and maintain compliance with internal deadlines
● Prepare weekly and monthly reports on reduction outcomes, savings achieved, and case closure timelines
● Support attorneys in addressing escalated provider issues when needed
Qualifications
● Proven experience in medical bill negotiation and reduction within the personal injury legal industry
● Bilingual: Fluent in both spoken and written English and Spanish (required)
● Minimum 2–3 years experience in personal injury, medical billing, or insurance negotiations preferred
● Must have strong multi-state knowledgeable in medical liens and reduction process
● knowledgeable in handling a high-volume caseload
● Excellent negotiation and communication skills
● Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
● Courteous and professional demeanor
● Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping
● Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements related to personal injury billing is a plus
● Familiarity with case management systems (e.g., Clio, Litify, Zoho) and common medical portals (ChartSwap, Datavant/Ciox, CMS)

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
