The School District of Horicon is seeking an individual to clean and maintain the school building from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., Monday - Friday, during school the year. Summer schedule of Monday - Thursday, 10 hour days, 6:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. When students are not in attendance during the day over break times (Spring Break and Christmas Break), the schedule is optional, 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. or stay on their regular scheduled shift. This position is a full-time, year-round position, 261 days, with full benefits (sick leave, personal leave, paid holidays, vacation, LTD, WRS, etc.).
The Cleaner is responsible for the day to day cleaning of facilities. The candidate will work with the building and grounds team to provide a safe and healthy environment for students, staff, and the community.
This position performs a wide variety of manual to semi-skilled custodial duties on the Horicon School District Campus. The candidate may be assigned to a specific area of the school and duties may vary according to shift worked. The work is performed under the Buildings and Grounds Supervisor. Essential job duties are as follows:
- Cleans restrooms, scours and sanitizes sinks, toilets, and drinking fountains.
- Sweeps, mops, power scrubs, and waxes floors; vacuums and shampoos carpets, washes windows, washes walls, cleans blinds and blackboards/whiteboards.
- Assembles, moves, dusts and polishes furniture. Sets up and tear down tables and chairs.
- Shovels snow and removes ice from walkways and building entrances. Sands and salts entrance and exit walkways.
- Collects garbage and recyclable materials and places in appropriate containers.
- Maintains building security and safety. Locks and unlocks doors and windows. May assist with emergency drills. Checks buildings for damage and break-ins.
- Monitors cleaning supply inventories and notifies supervisor of needs.
- May perform routine painting duties.
- Rake leaves, clean and maintain the playground surfaces.
- Moves and delivers furniture, materials, and supplies as necessary.
- Restock paper and custodial supplies.
- Deliver packages and supplies to classrooms.
- Assist in the collection of lost and found items.
- Must always take the initiative to maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the Horicon School District Campus.
- Other duties as assigned by the Building and Grounds Supervisor/Building Principals.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Must be able to work independently and in a team setting.
- Ability to take and follow directions.
- Ability to pay attention to detail and follow through with the task at hand.
- Ability to learn the proper use of equipment and safety of cleaning chemicals per MSDS guidelines.
- Awareness of health and safety procedures that are set in place.
Candidate must be 18 years of age, with a valid Wisconsin driver’s license, hold a high school or equivalent diploma, and pass a background check. One year custodial or cleaning work experience preferred. Basic computer skills required.
