Job Title: Utility Shop Helper
Department: Shop Operations / Maintenance
Reports To: Service Manager
Position Summary
The Utility Shop Helper assists technicians and shop personnel with daily operations, maintenance, spotting trailers in the yard, cleaning, and general labor tasks. This position helps ensure the shop remains safe, organized, and productive while supporting repairs and maintenance of trailers, and equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of shop work areas.
- Sweep floors, empty trash, and dispose of waste materials properly.
- Assist technicians with repairs and maintenance as directed.
- Move trailers, parts, and equipment within the yard and shop.
- Deliver and pick up parts, supplies, and materials.
- Stock shelves and maintain parts inventory areas.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other shop equipment as authorized.
- Assist with preventative maintenance tasks.
- Remove and install basic components under supervision.
- Perform yard maintenance including snow removal, and debris cleanup.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Complete other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred but not required.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to climb ladders and access equipment safely.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks throughout the workday.

- Basic understanding of shop safety practices.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
Working Conditions
- Heavy-duty truck and trailer repair facility.
- Exposure to grease, oil, dirt, noise, and varying temperatures.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required.

Pay Range: Based on experience and qualifications.
Employment Status: Full-Time

Pay: $24.29 - $29.25 per hour
