Production Floor Manager – Dry Food Co-Packing Operations

Position Summary
Poco Packing Co. is seeking a hands-on Production Floor Manager to lead daily operations within our dry food co-packing facility. This role is ideal for a mechanically inclined production leader who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and enjoys both managing people and working directly with equipment.
The Production Floor Manager will be responsible for setting up, operating, troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing packaging and processing equipment while leading production crews to safely and efficiently meet customer production goals. Our facility supports dry blending, stand-up pouch packaging, stick packs, sachets, cup filling, hand assembly projects, and automated packaging operations.
Key ResponsibilitiesProduction Operations
- Set up, start up, and operate packaging and processing equipment.
- Configure production lines for various dry food packaging projects.
- Monitor machine performance and production output throughout each shift.
- Perform product changeovers, line adjustments, and equipment calibration.
- Ensure production schedules are achieved while maintaining quality standards.
- Coordinate line startup, shutdown, and cleaning activities.
Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, and operational issues on production equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance activities.
- Troubleshoot packaging, filling, sealing, coding, labeling, and conveying equipment.
- Work with outside service providers when major repairs are required.
- Recommend equipment improvements and process enhancements to increase efficiency.
Team Leadership
- Lead, train, and supervise production associates.
- Assign team members to filling, packaging, palletizing, and assembly functions.
- Ensure employees follow safety, quality, and food manufacturing procedures.
- Coach team members on productivity, quality, and workplace expectations.
- Foster a positive, accountable, and team-oriented culture.
Packaging & Warehouse Coordination
- Oversee finished product packaging into cases and master cartons.
- Ensure proper pallet building, wrapping, labeling, and staging for shipment.
- Monitor inventory of packaging materials and production supplies.
- Coordinate material flow to minimize downtime and maximize throughput.
Food Safety & Quality
- Maintain compliance with FDA, GMP, HACCP, and food safety requirements.
- Verify lot coding, packaging accuracy, and production documentation.
- Ensure sanitation procedures are followed before, during, and after production runs.
- Support audits and continuous improvement initiatives. Poco Packing Co. operates an FDA-certified food processing facility serving dry food blending and packaging customers.
QualificationsRequired
- 3–7+ years of manufacturing, food production, packaging, or co-packing experience.
- 2+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience operating automated packaging equipment.
- Ability to read equipment manuals, schematics, and production documentation.
- Forklift experience or willingness to become certified.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work on the production floor for extended periods.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
Preferred
- Experience in dry food manufacturing, blending, or co-packing.
- Experience with VFFS machines, pouch filling equipment, coding systems, conveyors, and semi-automated packaging lines.
- Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, SQF, FDA, or food safety systems.
- Maintenance or industrial equipment repair experience.
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
