Duties
- Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, and ICD-10 coding systems to ensure proper reimbursement.
- Review medical records and documentation to verify the accuracy of billing information and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems to input data, track claims status, and update patient accounts.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective communication with insurance companies and patients to facilitate medical collections.
- Maintain detailed records of billing activities, payment histories, and correspondence related to medical billing processes.
- Collaborate with medical office staff to resolve discrepancies, clarify billing issues, and improve overall revenue cycle workflows.
- Stay current with industry standards such as DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications, CPT coding updates, and regulatory changes impacting medical coding and billing.
Experience
- Proven experience in medical billing or coding within a healthcare setting is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and insurance claim processes.
- Familiarity with ICD coding systems (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding procedures, and DRG classifications.
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for billing, documentation, and record keeping.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to review complex medical documentation accurately.
- Prior experience in medical collection efforts is a plus.

Pay: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour
