Job Summary: Assistant General Manager oversees all front-of-house operations, ensures excellent guest experience, and is responsible for closing the building each shift. This role manages staff on the floor, leads hosting, handles guest issues, maintains safety and cleanliness standards, and enforces company policies. If desired, this job is designed to grow into a GM position.
Key Responsibilities
- Host duties: Greet guests, manage reservations and waitlists, seat guests, and ensure smooth arrival flow. Oversee hourly hosts when applicable.
- Floor leadership: Publish FOH Schedules, Supervise FOH staff (hosts, servers, bussers, barbacks), assign stations, monitor service standards, and provide coaching in real time.
- Closing the building: Execute shift opening duties and closing checklists, secure premises, complete cash-outs and deposits, reconcile POS, lock up and arm systems, and ensure all areas are cleaned and restocked.
- Guest service & problem resolution: Respond to guest complaints or incidents promptly and professionally; escalate to upper management when needed.
- Shift management: Maintain service pace, coordinate with kitchen/bar, control seating to match capacity, and manage peak times.
- Safety & compliance: Enforce safety, health, and fire regulations; monitor occupancy and crowd control; ensure staff follow alcohol service and ID-check policies.
- Administrative tasks: Complete shift reports, staff timecard approvals, inventory checks for FOH supplies, writing nightly manager log.
- Training & development: Train new hires on FOH procedures, customer service standards, and closing/opening protocols.
- Communication: Liaise with back-of-house management, security, and cleaning teams to ensure cohesive operations.
Qualifications
- 2+ years FOH supervisory or managerial experience in hospitality (restaurant, bar, venue, or similar).
- Proven experience managing opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and adhering to KPI targets
- Strong customer service and conflict-resolution skills.
- Familiarity with reservation and POS systems (specify your systems if required).
- Knowledge of local health, safety, and alcohol service laws.
- High school diploma or equivalent; hospitality-related training preferred.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
