Job Summary:
Trailer Mechanics inspect, repair and maintain semi-trailers and converter dollies. Minor work is also performed on yard trucks and shop equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot mechanical, air, electrical, and structural issues using computer software, diagnostic tools, and manual inspection.
- Repair mechanical, air, electrical, and structural issues.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance in accordance with DOT guidelines.
- Move equipment in/out of the shop and reposition within the yard.
- Accurately document repairs, parts usage, and labor for each repair.
- Respond to road calls on an as-needed basis.
- Communicate with shop managers/supervisors on repair statuses, parts requests, as well as any other items that need addressed.
- Promote a positive, clean, and organized work environment.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to pass a background check, in accordance with vendor standards.
- 1–3+ years of vehicle, trailer, or heavy-duty equipment maintenance experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and work on, in, and under trailers.
- Comfortable working in outdoor conditions.
Pay: $21.00 - $30.00 per hour
