Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Industrial Sandblaster/Painter to join our manufacturing team. This role involves preparing surfaces through abrasive blasting and applying high-quality coatings to ensure durability, safety, and aesthetic appeal of industrial components. Duties
- Operate sandblasting equipment to clean and prepare surfaces according to project specifications, ensuring removal of rust, paint, and debris.
- Apply protective coatings using conventional spray guns, airless paint sprayers, or powder coating methods, adhering strictly to application standards.
- Interpret production documents such as work orders, technical drawings, and quality standards to accurately complete tasks.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment for surface preparation and finishing tasks.
- Maintain strict adherence to personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols including respirators, respirator masks, and other safety gear during all operations.
- Conduct visual color comparisons and inspect finished surfaces for coating consistency, quality standards in production, and defect detection.
- Perform basic math calculations for measurements and material quantities required for coating applications.
- Support construction painting surface preparation efforts by cleaning and priming surfaces prior to coating application.
- Engage in auto body repair techniques when necessary for surface correction before painting or coating.
- Follow lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflow efficiency while maintaining high safety standards.
Skills
- Proficiency in operating sandblasting equipment and understanding of abrasive media types.
- Knowledge of industrial painting techniques including powder coating, auto painting, and construction painting surface preparation.
- Experience with coating application tools such as spray guns (including airless systems), hand tools, power tools, and machining equipment.
- Familiarity with quality standards in production environments and the ability to interpret technical documents accurately.
- Mechanical knowledge related to fabrication processes, welding, machining, and assembly procedures.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments for surface inspection and quality control purposes.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols including PPE use, respiratory protection measures, and hazard awareness in manufacturing settings.
- Warehouse experience with materials handling equipment such as forklifts and cranes.
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations related to coating thicknesses, material quantities, and process adjustments.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles aimed at reducing waste while maintaining product quality.
