Join the Roadsafe team as a Driving Instructor and help us to guide students of all ages to develop safe, confident driving skills! Navigating the busy streets of Seattle can be a dauting challenge for new drivers- in this role, you will deliver expert instruction across a variety of driving environments, ensuring learners master essential techniques and defensive driving skills while adhering to traffic safety standards. Our goal is to inspire confidence in new drivers, helping them achieve independence on the road. Duties
- Provide comprehensive driving lessons for individuals of diverse skill levels, including teen drivers, and adult learners.
- Conduct classroom-based traffic safety and behind-the-wheel instruction to reinforce safe driving practices.
- Assess student progress regularly, offering constructive feedback and tailored coaching to improve skills.
- Maintain detailed records of each lesson, student performance, and progress reports in compliance with licensing standards.
- Communicate effectively with clients to set expectations, schedule lessons, and address questions or concerns professionally.
- For those with an examiner certification, or who are interested in obtaining this certification, duties may include administering the state knowledge test and driving skills test.
Requirements
- Knowledge of traffic regulations, highway maneuvers, and adverse weather driving techniques.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage students of all ages and backgrounds.
- Strong organizational skills for managing client schedules, lesson plans, and progress documentation.
- Strong punctuality and time-management skills are essential.
- Experience as a driving instructor, and an instructors license at time of application strongly preferred, but not required
- WA State law requires that new instructors must be at least 21 years old, have a valid WA drivers license and 5 or more years of driving experience, a high school diploma or GED, complete 100 hours of supervised training, be willing and able to pass a criminal background check/fingerprinting, pass a 100 question instructor exam with a score of 87 or higher, and an instructor driving skills test with a 90 or higher.
- Ability to speak multiple languages strongly preferred, but not required. Our client base is made up of an extremely diverse community, many of whom have limited experience with English, so the ability to communicate effectively in another language is beneficial.
