Awning Works is a family-owned company that has served Pinellas County for over 35 years. We operate several successful businesses under one roof, including a national manufacturing operation, multiple e-commerce stores, and a web development company.
Our manufacturing division produces custom cushions, pillows, awnings, and architectural shade products. Because many of our products are oversized, we regularly ship both parcel and LTL freight throughout the United States.
Position Summary
We're looking for a dependable Shipping & Receiving Lead to join our team. This position is responsible for receiving incoming materials, preparing customer orders for shipment, maintaining inventory accuracy, and coordinating parcel and freight shipments.
The ideal candidate enjoys staying organized, solving logistical challenges, and taking pride in shipping orders accurately and on time.
Responsibilities
- Receive and inspect incoming shipments for accuracy and damage
- Verify quantities against purchase orders
- Organize and store incoming inventory
- Pick, pack, and prepare customer orders
- Process shipments using UPS WorldShip
- Schedule parcel and LTL freight shipments
- Generate shipping labels, packing slips, and bills of lading
- Obtain freight quotes for oversized orders
- Track shipments and assist with delivery issues
- Maintain accurate inventory records
- Support production by staging materials
- Keep the warehouse clean, organized, and safe
- Assist with shipping claims and documentation
- Help improve warehouse efficiency and shipping processes
Qualifications
- Shipping, warehouse, or logistics experience preferred
- Experience with UPS WorldShip or similar shipping software
- Familiarity with freight shipping and LTL carriers is a plus
- Strong organizational and computer skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
- Forklift experience is a plus
