Community Engagement Lead (Part-Time, Grant-Funded Contractor)

Schedule: Approximately 5-10 hours per month for a 12-month grant period

Position Summary The Community Engagement Lead will support relationship-building, outreach, and recruitment efforts across Camden County. This individual will help strengthen connections among doulas, lactation professionals, healthcare organizations, and community members to ensure successful implementation of the LATCHED program. The ideal candidate is deeply connected to the local community, passionate about maternal and infant health, and experienced in community outreach and engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruit and engage doulas, lactation professionals, and community partners
- Support outreach efforts for focus groups, trainings, and events
- Assist with participant recruitment and retention
- Foster relationships with healthcare organizations, community-based organizations, and birth workers to identify barriers to participation and recommend solutions
- Collaborate with the Project Leader to ensure community perspectives inform program development
- Assist with dissemination of educational materials and program updates
- Attend virtual and occasional in-person meetings

Preferred Qualifications
- Reside in or have strong connections to Camden County or surrounding South Jersey communities
- Experience in community engagement, maternal-child health, public health, nonprofit work, or birth work
- Strong understanding of the needs and experiences of Black families and historically underserved communities
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Experience coordinating events, outreach initiatives, or community programs
- Familiarity with local maternal and child health resources is preferred
- Experience as a doula, breastfeeding peer counselor, community health worker, or perinatal support professional is a plus
