Location: Theodore, AL (In-Person / Near Mobile)
Reports To: Production Manager / Shift Supervisor
Pay: $19.00–$21.00 / hour (Starting rate based on experience; a 60-day probationary period is required. Rate escalation depends on knowledge, responsibility, dependability, and a proven track record gained through hands-on training.)
Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: 8-Hour Rotating Shifts (24/7 continuous operation — Day, Evening, and Night shift availability required). Overtime and holiday work is required to meet production demands.

The Role: Data Analytics Meets Plant & Chemical Operations
This is a unique, hybrid position combining hands-on chemical/plant operations with computer-based process monitoring. You aren't just pushing buttons or moving pallets — you'll act as an operational detective, using advanced plant production software and process control systems to catch inconsistencies before they cause costly downtime, waste, or quality issues.
Desk-Based Data & Process Monitoring:
- Monitor plant production systems, automated tracking tools, statistical process control (SPC) charts, and computer-based control systems (DCS, SCADA, HMI, or PLC) for extended periods.
- Spot trends, minute variances, and data anomalies in real time that indicate a machine may be failing, quality is dropping, or waste is increasing.
- Adjust process parameters as needed to maintain product quality and throughput targets.
- Flag issues before they cause a full production stop, using focus and attention to detail.
- Accurately record and report production data, process readings, and quality parameters in logs or digital systems.
Hands-On Field Investigation & Chemical Operations:
- Operate and monitor production equipment used in calcium carbonate processing, including crushers, grinders, mills, classifiers, dryers, blowers, pneumatic systems, and packaging lines.
- Head out into the production facility to physically inspect equipment when data indicates a possible issue.
- Bridge the gap between the software screen and the mechanical hardware, working with operations and maintenance teams to pinpoint where a physical issue matches a data anomaly.
- Collect and prepare material samples for quality control testing, and assist with basic QC checks.
- Perform material handling tasks, including loading/unloading raw materials and finished product.
- Conduct routine equipment checks, inspections, and preventive maintenance tasks to minimize downtime.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols at all times.
- Assist with cross-functional tasks in maintenance, shipping, or packaging, and quality as needed
- Support 5S housekeeping standards and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Communicate effectively with shift supervisors, maintenance teams, and other operators for smooth shift handovers.
- Comply with all environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations and plant policies.
Shift Structure (24/7 Rotating 8-Hour Shifts)
- We operate a fast-paced, 24/7/365 continuous manufacturing facility.
- To keep the plant running smoothly around the clock, operators work 8-hour shifts that rotate across day, evening, and night schedules.
- Full schedule flexibility, including weekends and holidays, is required to meet production demands on a lean, cohesive team.
Qualifications & Aptitude We Look For
We are fully prepared to train the right candidate on our specific software and manufacturing equipment, but you must bring the baseline experience and aptitude to succeed:
- Proven experience working as an operator in an industrial, chemical, or minerals-processing plant, with a demonstrated track record of monitoring plant operations via computer-based systems (DCS, SCADA, HMI, PLC, or similar production software).
- Analytical Aptitude: A natural curiosity for puzzle-solving, identifying patterns, or diagnosing problems — if you enjoy digging into data, spreadsheets, or technical systems to figure out why something isn't working, you have the mindset we need.
- Computer Literacy: Strong comfort level sitting at a computer station for long stretches. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) is required; experience with process control systems or CMMS is a major plus.
- The Hybrid Hustle: The ability to pivot seamlessly from focused computer work to physically demanding field tasks (standing for long periods, climbing stairs/ladders, and lifting or moving equipment up to 50 lbs in a dusty, industrial environment).
- Industrial Environment Exposure: 1–3 years of experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, chemical, or industrial facility is preferred.
- Credentials: A high school diploma or GED is required; an Associate's Degree or technical/vocational certification in process technology or chemical operations is preferred. A current TWIC Card or experience in an OSHA-compliant facility is a significant advantage.
- Reliability: Rock-solid attendance and punctuality. In a 24/7 continuous-run operation, your shift teammates rely heavily on you to arrive on time for a clean operational handoff.
- Technical Understanding: Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and SOPs; solid understanding of basic process chemistry is a plus.
