Position Overview
Under the direct supervision of a certified staff member, the 1:1 General Education Teaching Assistant will provide dedicated support to a kindergarten student to meet instructional, physical, and inclusion goals in a general education setting. This role involves assisting the student with mobility (e.g., handheld support in hallways, moving through the school), classroom activities, specials, lunchroom support, and toileting. The position is for the remainder of the 2025-26 school year and the 2026-27 school year (7.5 hours per day).
Essential Job Functions

Provide 1:1 support to a student, including handheld assistance in hallways, mobility support throughout the school, and help during classroom activities, specials, and lunch.

Assist with toileting and other activities of daily living to maximize the student’s participation in school.

Support the student in reinforcing reading, language arts, mathematics, and other skills under the direction of certified staff.

Assist with classroom preparations, instructional materials, and strategies tailored to the student’s needs.

Help maintain a safe, orderly classroom environment and minimize disruptions.

Follow safety protocols and regulations for supporting students with disabilities.

Construct, copy, distribute, and use educational materials as needed.

Maintain confidentiality of student information.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to follow written and oral instructions.

Basic arithmetic skills to assist students as needed.

Familiarity with personal computers, adaptive technology, and software.
