A dedicated nursing professional is needed to provide 1:1 care for an 18-year-old male student attending an out-of-district education program. This contract position offers a meaningful opportunity to make a difference while working steady weekday hours in a school-based environment. The assignment is anticipated to continue through the 25/26 academic year, over the summer, and likely into the following school year.
In this role, you’ll provide direct support to a student diagnosed with periventricular leukomalacia, spastic quadriplegia cerebral palsy, cortical visual impairment, eosinophilic esophagitis, and gastroesophageal reflux disease. Daily responsibilities include supporting the student during van transportation between home and school, monitoring medical routines, and ensuring safety and comfort throughout the school day.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Massachusetts LPN or RN license required
- Direct experience with school-aged children or young adults preferred
- Comfortable with full body range of motion exercises and ceiling lift usage
- Experience with pulmonary care (nebulizer treatments, chest PT with vest, cough assist, oral suctioning)
- Familiarity with TLSO torso braces and AFO ankle braces encouraged
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 nursing care in both clinical and school settings
- Assist with daily pulmonary and physical routines, including device management and repositioning
- Support student with safe transfers (using ceiling lift) and comfortable alignment
- Monitor student’s wellbeing and respond to medical needs
- Maintain clear and effective communication with educational and healthcare teams
The work schedule is around 40 hours per week, with summer hours from July 6 to August 7 (approx. 8:00am–2:30pm) and regular school year hours estimated at 7:30am–3:20pm.
