About the Role
As a Lead Prototype Machinist, you will serve as a technical authority in the creation of high-precision components for cutting-edge product development. You will bridge the gap between conceptual design and physical reality by applying expert knowledge of CNC programming, CAD/CAM integration, and advanced metrology to deliver complex prototypes.
Responsibilities-
Program, set up, and operate multi-axis CNC mills and lathes to fabricate intricate, tight-tolerance parts.

Provide critical design-for-manufacturing (DFM) feedback to engineering teams to optimize component geometry and production efficiency.

Develop robust machining strategies and custom fixture designs using CAD/CAM software to ensure repeatable, high-quality results.

Manage shop floor workflow and resource allocation to meet aggressive prototyping timelines.

Execute advanced inspection protocols and metrology checks to verify compliance with rigorous quality standards.

Mentor junior staff on best practices for machining, measurement, and technical problem-solving.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance shop capabilities and integrate new manufacturing technologies.
Qualifications

6+ years of experience in precision machining, specifically within a prototype or R&D environment.

Advanced proficiency in CNC programming, G-Code, and operating multi-axis mill/lathe equipment.

Expertise in CAD/CAM software for 3D modeling and toolpath generation.

Deep understanding of GD&T and complex tolerance strategies.

Proven ability to perform manual machining and utilize advanced hand metrology tools.

Experience working in highly regulated industries such as medical devices or aerospace.
