Duties
- Assist orthodontists during patient examinations and procedures, including bracket placement, adjustments, and removal.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are ready for each appointment.
- Take and develop dental X-rays and 3D scans using advanced imaging equipment to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Manage patient records efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic, ensuring compliance with HIPAA privacy regulations.
- Educate patients on orthodontic care instructions, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene practices tailored for pediatric dentistry and general dentistry needs.
- Perform dental sterilization procedures following infection prevention management protocols to maintain a sterile environment.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and assisting the dental receptionist with patient check-in/out processes.
- Adhere strictly to clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive medical records and documentation.
- Support infection control practices through aseptic techniques and proper handling of dental instruments to prevent healthcare-associated infections.
- Assist with oral surgery procedures, prosthodontics, endodontics, and other general dentistry treatments as needed.
- Maintain proficiency in dental terminology and anatomy knowledge to effectively communicate with team members and patients.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a fast-paced clinical setting with a focus on orthodontics preferred.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, medical coding, and medical documentation standards is essential.
- Hands-on experience with dental X-ray machines, including dental x-ray techniques for both intraoral and extraoral imaging.
- Strong understanding of infection prevention management, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures within a healthcare environment.
- Experience supporting pediatric dentistry or working with children is a plus.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting using four-handed dentistry techniques efficiently.
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and general dentistry procedures.
- Competence in operating advanced dental imaging tools such as 3D scanners for comprehensive treatment planning.

Pay: $21.77 - $30.03 per hour
